Tivolio privacy policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Tivolio is a Chrome extension for keeping track of your own stock portfolio. Your portfolio stays in your browser: Tivolio has no account, no server of its own, no analytics and no ads, and the developer never receives your data. This policy explains what Tivolio stores, what it sends and to whom.
What Tivolio stores
- Your portfolio and settings: positions (ticker, number of shares, average buy price), cash, watchlist, price alerts, recorded buys and sales, and your settings. They are saved in Chrome's extension storage. If Chrome sync is on, Chrome copies this part to your other computers through your Google account, under Google's privacy policy.
- Working data on this computer only: prices, a saved daily total of your portfolio, news headlines and summaries.
- Your Claude API key, if you add one: saved on this computer only, never synced.
- Files you save: backups and spreadsheets go to your Downloads folder. The weekly automatic backup goes to Downloads/Tivolio backups, and you can turn it off.
What Tivolio sends, and to whom
To show prices and news, Tivolio asks public services for data directly from your browser. These requests contain ticker symbols, never your share counts, amounts or anything that identifies you. As with any web request, the service can see your IP address and browser.
- Yahoo Finance: prices, price history, dividends, symbol search and news headlines, and a Yahoo news article when you ask for its summary.
- Nasdaq: expected earnings dates.
- Google News: headlines from the news sites you choose.
- U.S. SEC (EDGAR): insider trading filings.
- News publishers' websites: only when you click Summarize and allow Tivolio to read that site. Tivolio then reads that article's page to summarize it.
- Anthropic (Claude): only if you add your own API key. When you then summarize a story or import positions from a screenshot, the article's link or your screenshot is sent to Anthropic with your key, under Anthropic's privacy policy. Without a key, nothing is sent to Anthropic.
Each service handles these requests under its own privacy policy. Tivolio is not affiliated with any of them.
What Tivolio does not do
- It does not sell or share your data with anyone, including advertisers and data brokers.
- It has no analytics, tracking or ads, and it does not run code from outside the extension.
- It does not use your data for credit, lending or any purpose other than showing you your portfolio.
- Problem reports are copied to your clipboard from Settings. They hold counts and settings, not amounts, and go nowhere unless you paste them into a message yourself.
Your choices
You can edit or delete anything in Tivolio at any time. Removing the extension deletes what it stored on this computer; data synced by Chrome can be cleared in Chrome's sync settings. Sites you allowed Tivolio to read can be removed in Tivolio's Settings.
Children
Tivolio is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
